By replacing the cardholder’s Primary Account Number (PAN) with a randomly generated identifier, it adds a deeper layer of security to sensitive information online. This process is called tokenisation and it’s used to prevent credit card fraud. The token will be stored in your guest’s profile, and it can be used to take further payment before, during and after their stay.
RMS PAY is unable to perform a receipt or refund against a token created by another gateway (including RMS Vault). This is a restriction that applies to all gateways when transitioning from one to another. We recommend sending forward reservations an email inviting them to the Guest Portal to refresh their credit card information or using Pre-Check-In.
